Safe drinking water for rural Cambodians

Over 50% of of rural Cambodians do not have access to clean drinking water and more than 20% of deaths among rural Cambodian children are due to preventable waterborne diseases. The MAD Experience called out to everyday Malaysians to help fundraise for biosand water filters and travel deep into rural Cambodia to help build and install these water filters. We were overwhelmed when 12 ordinary Malaysians ranging from the age of 12 to 70 signed up for the challenge and collectively raised RM 26,123 which will provide around 80 families with access to clean drinking water for life! The dedicated volunteers spent 4th & 5th December in Siem Reap learning about the water crisis in Cambodia from our local nonprofit partner and getting their hands dirty installing water filters while meeting the local villagers and understanding their way of life.

We were also joined by the guys at Peeps Movement which donated slippers to kids and adults at the villages. Peeps Movement is a social enterprise based in Malaysia which donates a pair of slippers to those in need each time you buy a pair.
